Blue and red economic inequality

A great opinion piece by David Brooks in the New York Times about how inequality between the 99% and 1% differs in certain areas of the country.  He compares the city inequalities to those in areas where the inequality is between college grads and non-college grads.  He generalizes the data and provides no sources but I suspect that someone in the comments will provide the sources or these sources are easily found with a simple google search.
